Dejando atrás el plástico

Por una nueva ley y a partir del próximo año, los supermercados de la ciudad de Los Ángeles, en los Estados Unidos, dejarán de usar bolsas de plástico. En su lugar se usarán bolsas de papel o bolsas reutilizables. De esta manera se contribuirá a reducir la alta contaminación que producen las bolsas plásticas que no son biodegradables.

Leaving plastic behind

Due to a new law and starting next year, the supermarkets in the city of Los Angeles in the United States will stop using plastic bags. Instead, reusable bags and paper bags will be used. This will be a way to contribute in reducing the high pollution produced byte non biodegradable plastic bags.

Nos inspira la película Los Sueños, del director Akira Kurosawa, basada en los sueños del propio director. En uno de ellos, un estudiante de arte conoce a Vincent Van Gogh y conversa con el. Cuando pierde de vista al artista, el viaja a través de las obras de Van Gogh tratando de encontrarlo. Nos inspira también la música usada en este sueño,  Preludio Op. 28, No. 15, ("Raindrop") por Frédéric Chopin.

We are inspired by the movie Dreams, from film director Akira Kurosawa, based on his actual dreams. In one of them, an art student meets Vincent Van Gogh and talks to him. As he loses track of the artist, he travels through Van Gogh's works of art, trying to find him. We are inspired as well by the music used in this dream, Prelude Op. 28, No. 15 ("Raindrop") by Frédéric Chopin

Héroe y famoso

El actor John Malkovich demostró que algunos famosos son héroes también en la vida real. Estaba caminando en una calle de Toronto cuando vio a un hombre sangrando en la acera, su esposa estaba pidiendo ayuda. Malkovich detuvo el sangrado del hombre con una bufanda. Como lo haría un superheroe, desapareció en el momento en que más ayuda llego.

Celebrity hero

Actor John Malkovich demonstrated some celebrities are heroes in real life as well He was walking in a Toronto street when he saw a man bleeding on the sidewalk, his wife was yelling for help. Malkovich stopped the injured man’s bleeding with a scarf. As superheroes do, he disappeared by the time more help arrived.

Abejas anti-minas

Las abejas productoras de miel que buscan azúcar podrían salvar vidas al  prevenir explosiones de minas en Croacia y el resto de los Balcanes. Investigadores croatas están entrenando a estas abejas para encontrar minas que no llegaron a explotar en las guerras de los Balcanes y que son un peligro. Las abejas tienen un perfecto sentido del olfato que puede detectar rápidamente el olor de los explosivos y están siendo entrenadas para identificar su comida con el olor del TNT.

Anti-mine bees

Sugar-craving honeybees may save lives by preventing land mine explosions in Croatia and the rest of the Balkans. Croatian researchers are training them to find dangerous unexploded mines from the Balkan wars. Bees have a perfect sense of smell that can quickly detect the scent of the explosives.  They are being trained to identify their food with the scent of TNT.
