Thank you Carlos for sharing the story of “The Clandestine Surgeon”.
Hamilton Naki, a vital member of the team lead by Christian Barnard, famous for the first heart transplant, was a self-taught surgeon who trained generations of South African surgeons. Christian Barnard said that Naki was “one of the great researchers of all time in the field of transplants”.  But his skills couldn't be recognized because apartheid government's laws dictated that black people should not be given medical training or be allowed to have contact with white patients.
So he had to work clandestinely. He did it with great delicacy and accuracy, mastering surgical techniques at the highest level and passing them on to young doctors.
Even so, by the time Naki retired, in 1991, his official position was only that of a laboratory assistant. He taught surgery for 40 years and he retired with the pension of a gardener, given that his work had never been made public.
Finally in 2002, he received the country's highest order, the Order of Mapungubwe, for his years of public service. The following year he received an honorary degree in medicine in recognition of his achievements. “I feel quite happy, very happy”, said Naki at the time. “It's from years of work.”
For most of his professional life, he lived in a one-room house without electricity and with no running water. During his retirement Naki collected money for a school in his deprived home province, hoping to provide an education he was never able to afford for his own four children.
Despite discrimination, Dr. Hamilton Naki never stopped giving his best: his passion for helping living.

6. No posponga

4. Be assertive
Ask for what you really want and say what you think. It has been shown to be assertive helps improve self-esteem.

Spend your money on experiences, not things. 75 percent of people feel happier when they invest their money on travel, courses and classes. In contrast, only 34 percent say they feel happier when they buy things, except if needed.
6. Do not delay
‘Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today’. Studies show that there is more anxiety and tension the more delayed.

Hey hey hey
Hey hey hey
Ooooh.

No necesito dinero, fama o fortuna.

“Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it”.
Groucho Marx

“People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be”.

GOOD NEWS

An achievement

Danica Patric, an American race car driver, is the first woman achieving the pole position in Daytona 500 miles, NASCAR’s signature race. No woman had ever done that in the 54-year history of this competition.

Technology in Brazil 2014

FIFA will adopt goal line technology during the 2014 Soccer World Cup Brazil 2014. This technology will allow the referee to know if there has been a goal in the cases when he could not see whether the ball has crossed the line for a goal or not. This will help referees to make fair decisions.

SHARING

We thank Maritza, for sharing the following thought from M.S. Fontaine.

“We learn less from success than from failure. The latter teaches us prudence and humility, two treasures that are worth to acquire.”

We thank Carlos as well, for sharing the story of a family overcoming adversity.

This is a story about a Peruvian woman and a Japanese citizen. Mantaro, migrated to Peru, where he met Micaela and married her. They lived happily during ten years and had children, until the 2nd World War started. The Japanese were chased and arrested, among them Mantaro, who was sent to a concentration camp in the United States. Micaela  and her children  suffered the deepest sadness and poverty, until after a year of uncertainty they finally knew where Mantaro was, due to a letter that he could send them from prison. This letter gave them back their faith and Micaela decided to go with her children to find her husband, no matter having to live in the concentration camp`s hard conditions, just to be together. Finally they could be together after 22 months. Two years later, war ended and the family could return to Peru, with a new daughter born in prison. From the 1800 Japanese that were prisoners and taken to concentration camps in the United States, only 100 could return to Peru. The attitude of her brave wife was crucial for the return of Mantaro. After they returned, they rebuilt their family life and were happy in the same place where they had started.
