GOOD NEWS
Terminando el 2012, tenemos la oportunidad de ver lo positivo, conservar lo que aprendimos y descartar lo que no nos aporta nada. Con el deseo de que en el 2013 haya más buenas noticias y que el año nuevo traiga más paz y armonía, que el mundo tanto necesita, recordamos y agradecemos algunas de las noticias que nos inspiraron en el 2012:
At the end of 2012, we have the opportunity to see what is positive, keep what we have learned and discard what is not constructive. Wishing that in 2013 there is more good news and that the New Year brings more peace and harmony that the world needs so much, we remember and thank some of the news that inspired us in 2012.
Olimpiadas
El coraje, la disciplina y el admirable esfuerzo de los deportistas siempre es una fuente de inspiración. El mundo se olvidó por un momento de sus problemas, conflictos, desastres y siguió de cerca la competencia deportiva, la más sana manera de competir. Esperemos que algún día los conflictos se puedan resolver por la vía pacífica en lugar de en guerras absurdas. Las competencias deportivas podrían ser una alternativa para lograrlo. Desde su inicio en Grecia, las olimpiadas han tenido el poder de postergar guerras.
Olympic Games
The courage, discipline and admirable effort from the athletes are always a source of inspiration. The world forgot for a moment about its troubles, conflicts, disasters, and followed the healthiest way of competing closely. We hope it’s not far the day when conflicts can be solved in a peaceful way instead of in unnecessary wars. The sports competitions could be an alternative to make this possible. Since their beginning in Greece, the Olympic Games have had the power of delaying wars.
La solidaridad
Es esperanzador que en el mundo, a pesar de todo, hay mucha más gente con buenos sentimientos que lo contrario. Hay muchas personas que se solidarizan con los que sufren en el mundo por pobreza, guerras o desastres naturales. Ver tanta gente que trabaja voluntariamente por ayudar a niños, jóvenes, ancianos y personas en riesgo es inspirador. Sólo por mencionar un ejemplo, recordamos los conciertos, las donaciones, el Santa secreto y la ayuda en innumerables formas recibidas por las víctimas del huracán Sandy.
Solidarity
It is encouraging that in the world, despite everything, there are more people with good feelings than the contrary. There are so many people that care about the ones suffering from poverty, wars or natural disasters. To see so many volunteering to help children, young people, the elderly and people at risk is inspiring. Just to mention an example, we remember the concerts, donations, the secret Santa and the helped received in different ways by the victims of hurricane Sandy.
El mundo sigue
Pese a los temores de muchos, el mundo no se acabó. Pero aquí no se acaba la historia. Es tiempo para aprovechar un nuevo comienzo, una nueva oportunidad que se nos ha dado. Tal vez no podamos cambiar el mundo, pero podemos cambiarnos a nosotros mismos. La paz y la armonía empiezan en casa. Y quien sabe si hacemos esto la mayoría quizás podamos lograr en conjunto hacer una impresión en el mundo.
The world goes on
Despite the fears of several, the world didn’t end. But the story does not end here. It is time to seize a new start, a new opportunity that has been given to us. Maybe we cannot change the world, but we can change ourselves. Peace and harmony start at home. And who knows, if the majority do this, maybe we can leave together an impression in the world.

MUSICA QUE INSPIRA
Al final del año 2012, nos inspira la canción Auld Lang Syne, popular melodía tradicional con letra del poema escrito por el poeta escocés Robert Burns en 1788. Esta canción se volvió una tradición en las celebraciones de Año Nuevo, escuchándose al recibir las doce.
“For auld lang syne” significa “por los viejos tiempos”. Escuchemos esta canción que llama a recordar los momentos vividos y tener siempre presentes a los buenos amigos. El primer video muestra la canción en inglés con subtítulos en español. El segundo video es una versión tradicional en inglés con subtítulos en inglés, que los invita a cantar. Deseándoles lo mejor para el Año Nuevo, lleno de paz, amor, salud, armonía y felicidad, los dejamos con estas canciones. ¡Feliz Año 2013!
INSPIRING MUSIC
At the end of year 2012, we are inspired by the song Auld Lang Syne, popular traditional melody with lyrics from the poem wrote by Scottish poet Robert Burns in 1788. This song has become a tradition in New Year celebrations, at the stroke of midnight.
“For auld lang syne” means “for the old times”. Let us listen to this song that calls to remember the moments lived and to have good friends always present. The first video shows the song in English with subtitles in Spanish. The second video is a traditional version with English subtitles, which invites you to sing.
