Cantar en lugar de roncar

Un estudio en el Reino Unido encontró que ejercicios de canto ayudaron a reducir los ronquidos. Los ejercicios ayudaron a fortalecer ciertos músculos de la garganta y aliviaron síntomas de la apnea del sueño, condición en la que la persona hace pausas en la respiración mientras duerme.


Singing instead of snoring

A study in the UK found that singing exercises helped to reduce snoring. The exercises helped to strengthen certain throat muscles and alleviated symptoms of sleep apnea, condition in which people pause breathing while sleeping.

Final feliz

Una novia de Tacoma, Washington, llamó al número de emergencias 911. Estaba llorando. Le acababan de robar del auto su vestido de novia y su boda era ese mismo día.  Candice, la operadora que recibió la llamada, pensó "Yo tengo un vestido". Ella se había casado hace menos de dos años. Sin dudarlo, pidió permiso a su supervisor y le ofreció a la novia su vestido. Increíblemente, ambas tenían la misma talla y los dos vestidos habían sido comprados en la misma tienda, por lo que fue perfecto, a la novia le encantó el vestido, pudo usarlo y la boda fue salvada. Una maravillosa historia sobre la buena voluntad y el deseo de ayudar, con un final feliz.

Happy ending

A bride from Tacoma, Washington, called 911. She was crying. Her wedding dress had been stolen from her car and her wedding was that very same day. Candice, the operator who received the call, thought "I have a dress". She was married less than two years ago. Without hesitation, she asked her supervisor for permission an offered the bride her dress. Incredibly, they had the same size and both dresses were bought in the same store so it was a perfect fit, the bride loved the dress, she was able to use it and the wedding was saved. A wonderful story about goodwill , with a happy ending.

Un gran hallazgo

Una escultura de ocho metros de largo y dos metros de ancho fue descubierta debajo de una pirámide en el centro arqueológico Holmul, en Guatemala. Este hallazgo es extraordinario por la magnitud y estado de conservación de esta obra de arte que representa a dioses y líderes Maya. Esta será una valiosa fuente de información sobre el propósito y el significado de la pirámide..

A great finding

A sculpture of eight meters long and two meters wide has been found under a pyramid at the pre-Columbian archaeological site of Holmul in Guatemala. This finding is outstanding because of the magnitude and preservation of this work of art depicting gods and Mayan leaders. It will be a source of valuable information about the purpose and the meaning of the pyramid.

Sabiduría innata

De acuerdo a un estudio realizado en Bilbao, España, los niños son sabios en relación al cuidado del medio ambiente. Los niños aprenden a seguir reglas sociales, como por ejemplo los buenos modales, pero también siguen reglas innatas, como no dañar a otros. Estas reglas innatas incluyen el respeto por el medio ambiente, como no pisar las flores o no tallar tu nombre en un árbol. El estudio demostró que las reglas innatas son consideradas por los niños las más graves de romper. Un ejemplo para los adultos.

Innate wisdom

According to a study in Bilbao Spain, children are environmentally wise. Children learn to follow social rules, like for example good manners, but they also follow innate rules, like not harming others. These innate rules include respecting the environment, like not stepping on flowers or not carving your name into a tree with a knife. The study proved that children consider these innate rules harder to break. An example for adults.

La fábula del erizo

Durante la Edad de Hielo, muchos animales murieron a causa del frío.
Los erizos dándose cuenta de la situación, decidieron unirse en grupos. De esa manera se abrigarían y protegerían entre sí, pero las espinas de cada uno herían a los compañeros más cercanos, los que justo ofrecían más calor. Por lo tanto decidieron alejarse unos de otros y empezaron a morir congelados.
Así que tuvieron que hacer una elección, o aceptaban las espinas de sus compañeros o desaparecían de la Tierra. Con sabiduría, decidieron volver a estar juntos. De esa forma aprendieron a convivir con las pequeñas heridas que la relación con los demás pueden ocasionar, ya que lo más importante es el calor del otro.
Y así pudieron sobrevivir.

Moraleja de la historia
La mejor relación no es aquella que une a personas perfectas, sino aquella en que cada individuo aprende a vivir con los defectos de los demás y admirar sus cualidades.

Fable of the Hedgehog

During the Ice Age many animals died because of the cold. 
Hedgehogs realizing the situation, decided to join in groups. In that way they would protect each other against the cold, but the spines of each other wounded the closest companions, those who offered more heat. So they decided to move away from each other and began to freeze to death.
Then, they had to make a choice, to either accept the thorns of their companions or to disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided to get back together. In this way they learned to live with the small wounds that relationship with someone very close can cause, because the most important thing is the warmth of the other.
In that way they could survive.

Moral of the story:
The best relationship is not the one that unites perfect people, but the one in which each individual learns to live with the faults of others and admire their qualities.
